Cold Shoulder

You say it’s all in my head And the things I think just don’t make sense So where you been then? Don’t go all coy Don’t turn it ‘round on me like it’s my fault See I can see that look in your eyes The one that shoots me each and every time You grace me with your cold shoulder Whenever you look at me I wish I was her You shower me with words made of knives Whenever you look at me I wish I was her These days when I see you You make it look like … Continue reading Cold Shoulder

Mispronunciation

Speaking English, or simply pronouncing a word in English correctly in Brazil to someone who doesn’t speak it can be either funny or annoying, it depends on your mood. I asked, today, for Adele’s DVD and was immediately “corrected” by the salesman: “Ade-LE, you mean”. As I happen to be an English teacher, my first thought was to correct him, but on a second thought, and for being in a “whatever” mood, I just realised it wasn’t worth it and said: “Yes, exactly, Ade-LE”. Then I noticed his arrogant look, perhaps thinking, “what a dumb girl, can’t even pronounce the … Continue reading Mispronunciation

The Noise

Last night, after a few nights without sleeping well, I managed to go to bed earlier and fell asleep quickly. But I was woken at midnight by the neighbour who lives above my flat’s noisy bed. I know I’m terrible 😀 Continue reading The Noise

Brasília Feedback

Hey, it’s been a while, I know, and I apologise for that.. However, I’ve finally found the time to write, so here it comes. As you know, 2 weeks ago, nearly 3 now, I went to Brasília to take a test that would change my professional career. Well, I didn’t do that good on it because I hadn’t got the time I needed to focus on my studies, so it wasn’t a surprise, no. I guess I’ll still be teaching for a while. But much to my relief, I met a very nice couple, Leo and Lud, who’s from Minas Gerais, but work and … Continue reading Brasília Feedback

Couchsurfing in Brasilia

Today I’m trying the couchsurfing project for the first time. I’ve met this friendly couple online who kindly offered me a couch and all the support I needed so that I could have a good time while in Brasilia. I’m both very excited and anxious about it, specially about the test I’m taking there tomorrow. If I pass, a big change in my life will happen. I’ll have a new job, a new place to live in and new challenges. So wish me luck! If you want to know more about the couchsurfing experience, visit http://www.couchsurfing.org Continue reading Couchsurfing in Brasilia
